Education Co-ordinator - Zayed National Museum Project

The British Museum is working with the Tourism Development & Investment Company, Abu Dhabi to support them in the development of a new national museum to be called the Zayed National Museum. The new museum is being designed by Foster + Partners and it is intended that it will explore the history of the United Arab Emirates and the wider Middle East region. It will also house a Presidential Library enabling the visitor to explore the life and times of Sheikh Zayed as well as a falconry centre where the history of falconry will be presented.

As Education Co-ordinator you will develop links with Abu Dhabi educational stakeholders at governmental and institutional levels. You will take responsibility for the co-ordination, development, management and delivery of formal education and live interpretation programmes for the Zayed National Museum. Working alongside the Interpretation Team you will ensure that galleries and associated facilities meet needs of educational users. You will ensure that the education and live interpretation programmes are relevant to the museum’s galleries and exhibitions, and plan and oversee any formative research to fill relevant gaps in the museum’s knowledge about educational users.

Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (or equivalent) you will have experience of direct contact/ teaching with school groups, teachers and higher education institutions. Practical up to date understanding of teaching/ learning issues and methods within the context of museum education is essential. You will possess excellent oral and written communication skills and have an understanding of the educational context of Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates. As an excellent team player you will be adept at working to deadlines and prioritising work accordingly.
